The 10G EPON home broadband solution has been launched, meeting the family's demand for "multiple devices and high bandwidth" Internet access

With the sharp increase in the number of smart devices in the home and the popularization of high-definition applications such as 4K/8K video and cloud gaming, traditional broadband has been unable to meet the high bandwidth demands of home users. Recently, the Passive Optical Network technology team has launched a 10G EPON home broadband solution. This solution is characterized by "ultra-high speed", "concurrent use of multiple devices", and "green energy conservation", and can provide gigabit-level broadband access services for home users. It has been applied in the home broadband upgrade projects of operators in many cities across the country. ​


The core hardware of this 10G EPON solution includes 10G EPON OLT and 10G EPON ONU (Home Gateway). The 10G EPON OLT adopts advanced chip technology, with a single-port downlink rate of up to 10Gbps, capable of providing gigabit bandwidth for multiple home users simultaneously. The 10G EPON ONU integrates functions such as Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet port, and IPTV interface. Wi-Fi 6 supports dual frequency bands of 2.4GHz and 5GHz, with a maximum concurrent connection capacity of 128 devices, meeting the simultaneous networking requirements of multiple devices such as mobile phones, tablets, smart TVS, and vacuum cleaners in the home. In actual tests, the download speed of this solution can reach over 900Mbps, the upload speed can reach 100Mbps, 4K video download only takes 10 seconds, and the cloud game running frame rate is stable at 60fps without any delay or lag. ​


To enhance user experience, the solution has also optimized the "Intelligent Bandwidth Allocation" function. By analyzing the online behavior of home users, the system can automatically allocate bandwidth for different applications. For instance, when a user is conducting a video conference and watching a high-definition movie simultaneously, the bandwidth demand for the video conference is prioritized to avoid lag. When home devices are in standby mode, ONU devices will automatically enter low-power mode, reducing power consumption by 30%, which is in line with the trend of green energy conservation. ​

In the pilot program of an operator in a certain city, this 10G EPON home broadband solution received widespread praise from users. Pilot users have reported that when multiple devices are connected to the network simultaneously, the network speed remains stable, and the experience of high-definition video playback and cloud gaming has been significantly enhanced. The marketing director of the operator said, "The 10G EPON solution is a key technology to address the upgrading of home broadband demands. We plan to promote this solution to 50% of home users in the city within the next year, providing users with better broadband services."
